Designers at Elevance Health frequently worked with state healthcare plans to put together compelling presentations to win Medicaid bids. However, equally important was a presentation I put together using the feedback of other designers to instruct proposal writers on the graphics process so both teams could work together to create compelling visuals.

My team was brought into help streamline the many documents that go into making the budget book for the upcoming fiscal year. Our role was to edit copy, visualize data and develop an introduction section that summarized the budget process.

Many plans and reports included an overview from our Executive Director. My team interviewed executives while I designed layout and selected pull quotes.

Without a healthy and stable environment, one cannot easily achieve success. That is why we chose the theme “Housing Matters” for the 2018 Annual Report and further demonstrated NRHA’s commitment to safe, sustainable housing for Norfolk families.

An annual report is a time to update the public on an organization’s leadership and structure. Working with numerous conflicting schedules, we organized and directed photo shoots with Executive Leadership and our Board of Directors.

Many people have achieved success working with NRHA services and programs. Identifying those individuals and working to tell their inspirational stories was one of the most gratifying aspects of the job.

2017 was a year of change for the authority, so we selected the theme “Momentum” to reflect the drive, enthusiasm and renewed sense of purpose.

Throughout the year, I have the opportunity to photograph various events, people and communities for use in print and web publications. Compiling that work into compelling layouts and designs is a collaborative storytelling process from start to finish.

I worked to ensure the creative direction of all photography, branding and collateral reflects the organization’s values, mission and goals.

Community newsletters were a fun place to showcase resident success stories and community partnerships.

I kept newsletters cheery with bright colors, visual spreads and a dash of hand lettering.

I developed collateral for social media, email, web and print to promote homeownership classes, info sessions and loan programs.

Colorful shapes bring to mind family game nights for a community event.

A back to school event was a chance to create custom illustrations for print and social media graphics.

We coordinated with various departments, executive leadership and outside vendors to plan, execute and promote the annual employee meeting.

When a music-loving executive director stepped down, I designed his very own Hatch Show inspired send off.

We supported our team in both our personal and professional lives fostering a collaborative environment.

When given the chance to design a food truck for Whole Foods Market Virginia Beach, all I could ask was “who’s hungry?”

The Whole Foods Market Virginia Beach food truck brought a lot of sunshine and good eats wherever it went!

An effective menu design involves well-planned layout, clear descriptions and branding that reflects the establishment’s vision.

A series of summer pop ups called for bright, eye-catching posters that brought to mind good food at the beach.
